How our Claim Pack Module saves pharmacies time.

Hello, I’m Sam O’Reilly, Senior Customer Success Manager and Data Analytics Developer for UK Pharmacy at Real World Analytics. I’ve been with RWA for over eight years now, starting out as a Tableau developer and data analyst before moving into my current role.

What I love most about my job is that I get to see things from both sides - the customer-facing side, where I listen to pharmacy teams and understand their pain points, and the technical side, where I work with our developers to turn those needs into practical solutions.

Over the years, I’ve learned that the best developments aren’t always the flashiest or most complex. They’re often the simplest ones; the ones that make life easier, save time, and stop money from being left on the table. 

That’s exactly what happened with our Claim Pack Module - a tool built on our expertise in pharmacy business intelligence and pharmacy data analytics.

 

Why we created our Claim Pack Module:

About two months ago, we released a new reporting tool for our pharmacy customers. It wasn’t built because we had a shiny new idea or wanted to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it came directly from customer feedback.

Our customers told us they were spending far too much time flicking between multiple reports at the end of every month. They had weekly reports, NMS reports, expensive items reports, endorsement queries - the information was all there in the system, but it was scattered. What they really needed was one report, one place, one version of the truth.

So we pulled it all together. Our Claim Pack Module doesn’t give pharmacies anything they couldn’t technically find before; it just makes it simpler, faster, and more effective. And when you’re running a busy group, that clarity and saved time makes all the difference in retail pharmacy management and knowing how to increase pharmacy profitability.

 

What’s inside our Claim Pack Module?

Our Claim Pack Module was designed to be used multiple times in the run-up to the end of the month, not just once on the deadline day. Here’s how it helps:

Script claiming overview: 

The first page gives a clear view of where each branch stands in terms of labelled versus claimed items. It shows totals by branch or area manager and flags the variance. This includes not just current month activity, but also older items that might still be unclaimed.

Expiry management:

Next, we highlight scripts based on how close they are to expiry. Anything due to expire within 7, 15, or 30 days is clearly flagged, helping teams prioritise and make sure no claims slip through the cracks.

High-value items:

Expensive and special items are separated out into their own section. These scripts are high-value and bring in significant fees, so it’s vital that they’re claimed correctly and on time. Customers told us they wanted to easily keep track of these, and now they can!

Endorsement queries:

One of the most valuable pages highlights endorsement errors. Sometimes a script is claimed but hasn’t been tagged correctly as an expensive or special item. If left unchecked, this could mean lost revenue. Now, pharmacies can spot these errors before claims close and fix them to make sure they’re paid properly.

NMS tracking:

The final section focuses on New Medicine Service (NMS) claims. Pharmacies can see total interventions, completed follow-ups, and, importantly, any follow-ups still outstanding. This means teams have a last opportunity to complete those calls and secure additional payments before the month ends.
